I will begin my second year at Marian in the fall of 2012, pursuing a BS in chemistry and a BA in Spanish. I am the captain of the Marian University Bowling team who will also begin its second year in the fall. I hope to graduate in three years and attend medical school. I want to practice family medicine with the hopes of serving in the Navy upon graduation from medical school.
This summer was my first encounter with Green Chemistry. I have worked on further developing the methodology for the Bench-top Heck reaction in water. Marian is the only university to use this green methodology, which is very cool! Sustainability is incredibly important in our lives and it has been wonderful learning and developing my sustainability skills with great professors this summer. This knowledge will continue on with me throughout the remainder of my life.
